About us
Jack and Jills is a fully inclusive Preschool that has a genuine love for all children. Here, we are dedicated to supporting your family in your child's first step into education. We are open Monday to Friday 9.15-3pm. Please contact us for prices (we aim to make childcare affordable for all, and do not charge extras on top of funded places). We offer half days or full days; we accept 2 year offer funding for low income families, 30hr Working Family Funding and 15hrs funding for 3 years plus. We take children from 18mths old. We provide a nurturing environment, where children feel safe and confident to learn and grow. We ensure we meet the needs of every child, by really getting to know each individual and adapting our practice to meet the needs of your child, and ensure they learn. We teach children to be mindful and resilient. Children (and staff) also learn to balance their emotions and be happy and healthy through breathing, mediation and yoga.
We have daily Attention Autism sessions to enhance attention, listening and communication. We do Sensory Circuits and Movement breaks, sensory sessions and follow the Curiosity Programme - carrying out Intensive Interaction and striving to meet the needs of all learners, wherever their starting points may be. We use daily visuals to support transitions, Now and Next Boards, Visual timetables and 1-2-1 activities to develop learning and focus on the teacher. We work closely with local agencies and the Council, such as Bexley Early Autism Service, Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists. We also have regular visits from a Private speech and language therapist and an Autism specialist/play Therapists.
We offer Boogie Mites music sessions, Spanish lessons and Dough Disco.

Learning Practices
At Preschool we offer daily access to the garden in all weather (please provide wet suits and welly boots). We provide uninterrupted play to encourage independence, exploration, creativity and problem solving, also giving the children the opportunity to find out how they learn best and what they enjoy. We provide child-led activities based on their interests and adult-led activities to develop specific skills and provide personalised learning.
Adult-led activities also include specific groups such as Attention Autism, Early Talk boost groups and our morning 'School Ready' group with our Qualified Primary Teacher and Deputy, Nicola, providing fun learning tasks to help prepare children for school and create a smoother transition for them into Reception.
Staff work hard to engage, inspire and play with your children, supporting their learning further in everything they do. Everything is based around the children's interest, so engagement is kept to the maximum. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage - meaning we follow the same curriculum as Primary Schools. During free-flow play we are constantly observing and assessing, ready to notice that teachable moment, where we can gently step in and guide your child's learning further and develop those thinking skills.
Meet our teachers
Our Practitioners are not just teachers, we are also a family. We stride to provide the best care and education for your children. As a result, we have a highly qualified team - Our Manager and Deputy are both qualified Primary School Teachers, we have 3 Early Talk Boost Teachers, a Forest School Teacher, 2 qualified Level 3 SENCOs and a Maths Champion, among other qualifications. Many staff are continuing their studies and developing extra qualifications currently. All staff have Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene qualifications.
At Preschool, we aim to give children the skills to be strong and resilient. We also teach yoga, breathing and meditation. Our staff are absolutely lovely, and always ready for a big hug.
Our teachers not only strive to meet the needs of your children, but the whole family - we will help with advice wherever possible and will support you through an EHCP process if your child needs this. We offer home visits where needed and strive to support you fully during the transition process starting school.
Our staff work closely with outside agencies, working with Private Speech and Language Therapists and play therapists to ensure we are all supporting your child to achieve to same goals.
Our Curriculum
We offer a rich inclusive Curriculum that supports children's development from their individual starting points. Children are supported to settle, and through observation and play - we get to know each child, providing us with accurate baseline assessments. Parents and carer's input is also sought, so we can plan for the right level of support, so their child continues to learn and flourish. Through close observation and introduction of different learning resources we find out what interests the child and how they learn best.
Our Curriculum, is based around simple themes, and special days - such as National Bee Day. Such themes enhance the child's exposure to different ideas the children may not have been exposed to before. This enhances their learning of different topics- such as the seasonal changes and provides learning that engages and inspires the children. Thus, also teaching the children to explore, enhance their vocabulary and be inspired to learn more. Through our curriculum we aim to develop a lifelong love of learning, that extends past the classroom. We aim to teach the children about the outside world through trips, such as to the local farm, where the children have a fully sensory experience of what it is like to be around animals (not just engage with animal figures in the small world area). At the farm the children learn to care for the animals - providing alternative food to meet the needs of different animals, to feel their fur and warmth, smell and listen to the noises the animals make, compare their sizes and see their different colours and patterns. The children learn to feed the animals and of the importance of washing their hands afterwards. Our Curriculum aims to enhance their culture capital- exposing them to different experiences and what is available in the local area. During a recent visit a parent told us how she never knew a farm was so close to where they live. Through trips and walks around the local area children are exposed to the world around them, and learn how to keep themselves safe. Developing independence, learning to keep ourselves healthy, and managing our safety are key areas of development that are covered in our Curriculum.
We provide holistic learning, developing children as a whole, to ensure they are strong and resilient, able to make their own choices, actively participate in their learning and say 'stop' if they do not like something. We encourage children to learn to work together and accept one another. The children learn about differences and how we can support each other. Including using alternative forms of communication. Such as a child that communicates verbally, choosing to use Makaton to communicate with a pre-verbal child.
Our Curriculum, provides play-based learning opportunities, and an environment where the children feel safe to explore, take risks and learn from their mistakes with supporting and caring adults. Adults praise ongoing effort and kindness shown to others.
Our Curriculum is built on the EYFS and focuses on all 7 areas of learning. However, Communication and Language is a key area of development for our Curriculum, as it underpins all areas of learning; from enhancing cognitive development - through processing ideas and problem solving, to articulating our emotions, developing relationships and being heard. It is the foundation of all other areas of learning. Therefore, it is at the centre of everything we do.
Parent Communication
At Jack and Jills, we understand that no one knows your child better than you and we are deeply interested in learning about your child as a whole and how they present outside of preschool. We are also here to support your family as a whole. Therefore, parents, always feel free to give us a call, book a meeting or have a quick chat with us at any time. We use our closed Facebook group to put reminders and share some pictures of what your children are getting up to. We also use Tapestry- an online site that allows parents to contact us and send us pictures and updates of what your children are doing at home. On this platform we also share pictures and observations, updates and reminders of special days, 2 year progress checks,. and you can gain access to our policies, important documents and calendars on here.
